How to maintain solar photovoltaic system?

May 29, 2019

1. Photovoltaic array in solar photovoltaic system: check and tighten the coupling bolts and wires, test the output, and adjust the inclination.

2. Tracker: Lubricate the bearings, check the bolts and shock absorption.

3. Standby fuel system: The wiring is determined and has been checked and ready for use.

4. Charge Controller: Check the rectifier voltage setting and check that the voltmeter indicates normal. If the battery temperature is below 55 °F, it should be allowed to charge to a higher voltage (at least 14.8 volts for a 12 volt system). If your charge controller has temperature compensation, it will automatically adjust. If you have an external temperature sensor, make sure it is attached to the battery. If there is no automatic adjustment function, you need to manually increase the voltage and turn it back in the spring (adjust to 14.3 volts). If the charge controller is not adjustable, try to keep the battery in a warmer environment.

5. Battery (lead acid): Check the voltage of each battery, eliminate the failure, and determine whether a balanced charge is required. Balanced charge maintenance if needed (usually 8 hours of moderate overcharge after the battery is fully charged). Wash the liquid or dust on the battery (neutralize the acidic precipitate with dry soda powder). Clean or replace corroded terminals. Vaseline oil is applied to the terminals to prevent further corrosion. Check the battery fluid and add distilled or deionized water if necessary. Check ventilation (whether there are insects in the air duct, etc.). Note: Check the wire size, connections, fuses and other safety measures. Ground lightning protection: Install or check the grounding post or ground wire.

6. Load or appliance: Check for invisible loads or inefficient applications. For example, a wall-mounted transformer and a TV with remote control consume power whenever the power is turned on. Does your electric heater automatically adjust the temperature so that the inverter works 24 hours a day? Lamp: Check the blackened incandescent lamp and consider replacing it with a halogen or fluorescent lamp. Replace the black fluorescent tube. Clean the dust on the light and its mounting bracket.

7. Inverter: Check regulator, installation settings, wiring. Note: The charging voltage of the inverter with charging function should be set to 14.5 (29) volts. Refer to the instruction manual. Add additional temperature probes if necessary.

8. Battery Temperature The capacity of the lead-acid battery is 25% at 30 °F. When it is full, freezing at 20 °F causes damage. Overheating in summer can also affect its life. Therefore, the battery should be avoided in extreme outdoor temperature environments. The battery installed in the room according to national standards can operate safely.
